What should I do when a death occurs?
Call us immediately at (409) 886-4445 (Orange), (409) 735-7161 (Bridge City), or (409) 892-3456 (Beaumont). We are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We will guide you through every step, beginning with the transfer of your loved one into our care.
What is the difference between a funeral and a memorial service?
A funeral service typically takes place with the body present, either in a casket or after cremation in an urn. A memorial service is held without the body present, often after cremation has taken place. Both provide an opportunity for family and friends to gather, share memories, and begin the healing process.
Do you have your own crematory?
Yes. Claybar Funeral Home owns and operates the Haven of Rest Crematory, a state-of-the-art facility on the grounds of Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. This means your loved one never leaves our care throughout the entire cremation process.
What are the benefits of pre-planning a funeral?
Pre-planning allows you to make your wishes known, choose the services you prefer, lock in current prices, and spare your family from making difficult decisions during an emotional time. You can pre-plan without pre-paying, or choose to fund your arrangements in advance.
What veterans benefits are available for funeral services?
Eligible veterans may receive burial benefits including a burial allowance, a government headstone or marker, a burial flag, a Presidential Memorial Certificate, and military funeral honors. Our staff is experienced in helping families navigate the VA benefits process.
Can I personalize a funeral or cremation service?
Absolutely. We offer many ways to personalize a service, including tribute videos, live streaming, custom music, memory displays, themed decor, keepsakes, and memorial jewelry. Our directors work with you to create a unique tribute.
Do you offer live streaming of services?
Yes, we offer live streaming for family and friends who cannot attend in person. This allows loved ones from anywhere to participate in the service in real time.
How many death certificates do I need?
We generally recommend obtaining at least 10-15 certified copies. You will need them for insurance claims, bank accounts, real estate transfers, vehicle titles, and other legal matters. Our staff can help you determine the right number based on your situation.
Do you offer floral arrangements?
Yes. Blooms by Trendz Floral, our full-service florist located at 130 Strickland in Orange, provides funeral arrangements, sympathy flowers, and everyday bouquets. Call (409) 697-1500 or visit during business hours (M-F 8-5, Sat 8-Noon).
What cemeteries do you operate?
Claybar Funeral Home owns and operates Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Orange, Orange Forest Lawn Cemetery in West Orange, and Claybar Haven of Rest Cemetery in Beaumont. We also operate the Haven of Rest Crematory on the grounds of Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.
