Richard Wayne Dixon, 83, of Beaumont, Texas, passed away on May 29, 2023.

Richard was born in Wichita, Kansas on January 23, 1940, to William Cecil Dixon, Sr. and Margie Essie Spell Dixon, both deceased. Richard is survived by his beloved wife of 34 years, Glenna Martin Dixon. Richard is survived by two children, Douglas Wayne Dixon and Donna Kay Warren and several grandchildren. Richard is also survived by his sisters, Sharon Dixon Cammack of Houston, Texas and Connie Lee Kasinger of Arlington, Texas. Richard is predeceased in death by his brother, William (Bill) Cecil Dixon, Jr. Also, predeceasing Richard is his step-son, Todd Martin Blackwell.

Richard was an avid reader, and you could raise almost any topic and he would say, “I have a book on that!”. Richard had tremendous intellect and excelled at everything he set his mind to. He followed his father’s footsteps and became a union pipefitter and was a proud member of Pipefitters Local 195. He excelled as a craftsman and was an instructor at the apprenticeship school.

In 1977, he went to work for the Roebuck family and worked there for over 40 years. He originally worked for Golden Triangle Constructors as a construction manager and then as an estimator. He later became the estimating manager for Echo Maintenance. Richard had a strong work ethic and strived for perfection every day. He was in the forefront of utilizing technology. He designed and created many estimating programs that are still used today. Richard purchased and read countless engineering books and could calculate and solve any mathematical or technical equation.

In addition to his construction and estimating knowledge, in the late eighties, he owned and operated a computer software company. In this era, very few people had that knowledge. Throughout his lifetime, he was a mentor to many people and was well respected throughout the industrial construction community. He was a true leader and would have been successful in any career path he chose.
Richard was part of the “ECHO” family and was admired and loved by all. He will be missed, but the impact he had will endure for generations to come.

For more than twenty years, Richard regularly volunteered at the Lone Star Flight Museum in Galveston, Texas and he enjoyed every minute of it.

When he was not working or volunteering, he enjoyed cycling and running. He went on numerous cycling trips throughout the United States.

A beloved son, brother and husband, Richard will be lovingly remembered and missed.

A cremation will be held under the direction of Claybar Kelley-Watkins Funeral Home.
