Ada Ruth Nicks

Ada Ruth "Rusty" Nicks lived 85 years of a wife, mother, grandmother and a professional secretary and realtor. Her family, church, and the study of Christ were her top priorities.
Rusty was born in Saltillo, Texas, July 19, 1924. She was such a runt, Grad-daddy Lewis said she slept in boot box for the first year of her life. In high school, she was a cheerleader and always loved dance and movement. She was married to Johnnie Lee Nicks for 55 years before he preceded her in death.
Rusty was a certified legal secretary and Office Manager for the law firm of Hustmeier and Harris lawyers for HJL Stark. Rusty was the first Certified Legal Secretary and taught an Extension Educational Program for Lamar University in Secretarial Legal Skills. Also, she had a Real Estate Office in Bridge City called Rusty Nicks' Real Estate until she retired to travel around the United States with Papaw in the Winnebago. She lived in Bridge City, Texas for 50 plus years and moved to the Meadows Nursing Home three and a half years ago after the death of Papaw.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Sharon Elizabeth Boudreaux.
She is survived by her daughter, Sandra Haynes and husband, William of Crossville, Tennessee; grandchildren, Deedra Wilson, Warren Ray Wilson, Jr. and wife Lisa both of Bridge City; Edward Paul Haynes of Vermont, and Elizabeth Haynes-Houghton and husband, Larry of Conroe; great-grandchildren, Charles Lee Ganze of Vidor, Jared Ganze, Hannah Elizabeth O'Grady, Sharon Elizabeth Wilson, Shane Ryan Wilson, Stetson Strait Wilson all of Bridge City, Edward Scott Houghton, and Zachary Paul Houghton both of Conroe; great-great grandchildren, Madisen Elizabeth Ganze and Makenze Raye Ganze both of Houston; and sister-in-law, Elizabeth Sue Smith of Kemp, TX
Serving as pallbearers are Arles Lynn Smith, Jr., Johnnie Smith, William Smith, Charles Ganze, Shane Ryan Wilson, and Edward Paul Haynes.
Honorary pallbearers are Jared Ganze, Larry Houghton, and Stetson Wilson.
Funeral services will be at
1:00 p.m., Friday, August 7, 2009 at St. Paul United Methodist Church. Officiating will be Reverend Brad Morgan.
Entombment will follow at Orange Forest Lawn Cemetery.
