Alban “Buddy” Richardson passed away on Thursday, September 5, 2013 at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital, Beaumont, TX.
Visitation will be held at Claybar Kelley-Watkins Funeral Home on 11th St., Beaumont, TX on Saturday, September 7 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM. Funeral services will take place at 2:00 PM, Sunday, September 8, 2013 at the funeral home with Pastor Terry Wright of First Baptist Church, Vidor, TX officiating. Burial will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park of Vidor.
Buddy was born March 9, 1926 in Kirbyville, TX and graduated from Buna High School in 1943. He was a World War II Navy veteran, serving on the USS Zaniah and USS Ard II as a Machinist’s Mate 3d, worked at Mobil Oil Refinery, (nicknamed Rich) and retired as a Supervisor from Mobil Chemical, Beaumont, TX. Buddy resided in Beaumont many years and was a resident of Vidor, TX for the last 45 years and a member of First Baptist Church of Vidor. He was an avid hunter and his greatest love was his family who also loved him dearly.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Johnnie Fay (Young) Richardson; daughters, Sheila Richardson and Linda Sharon Baxter and husband Ronald Baxter; grandchildren, Clinton Wellons and wife, Colleen, Kim Baxter, Jason Wellons and wife, Lisa, Christy Mitchell and husband, Kelly, Amy Baxter and Jeromy Simmons; great-grandchildren, Laci Randall and husband, Aaron, Chelsea Eaves and husband, Aaron, Corby Lee, Kelley Ballard, Joshua Wellons, Megan Wellons, Zachary Wellons, Rhiannon Stevenson, and Samara Simmons; seven step-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren. He is also survived by his nephews; Ralph Richardson and Matthew Charles and his niece, Elizabeth Charles and husband, David.
Mr. Richardson was preceded in death by his daughter, Susan Simmons, his parents, R.V. and Lorene Richardson, and his twin brother, Osborn Richardson and wife, Mary Dee.
He left many more friends and family who loved and respected him very much.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Birdwell, Dr. Williams and the staff at Texas Oncology and at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont, TX as well as Dr. Wied and his staff and Total Home Health for their kind and loving care.
