Alberta "Bert" DeMary, 93, of the McLewis Community, died Wednesday, April 23, 2008, at Baptist Hospital in Orange.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday at Claybar Funeral Home Chapel in Orange, with the Reverend Keith Royal, pastor of Winfree Baptist Church, officiating.
Burial will follow at Dorman Cemetery in the McLewis Community.
Visitation will be 12-2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Born in Abbeville, Louisiana on August 28, 1914, Mrs. DeMary was the daughter of William Slaughter and Laura Belle Lee Lewis.
She was a longtime resident of the area and had worked as a clerk with Cliff's Grocery and as a security guard at B.F. Goodrich.
She was very loving and dedicated to her family and enjoyed fishing.
Preceded in death by her husbands, John Rupert Burleigh, Sr. and Chuck DeMary, and her son, John Burleigh, she is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Sheila Burleigh; daughter-in-law, Molly Burleigh, all of the McLewis Community, and sister, Ida Cuicco of Egan, Louisiana.
Also surviving are her grandchildren and their spouses, Chris and Megan Burleigh, Johnny Burleigh, Jeremy and Lori Burleigh, Shane Burleigh, Eric and Dawn Burleigh, Terry Burleigh; great grandchildren, Alexis, Aleaha, Madelyn and Addison Burleigh, Troy and Stori Wright; and her sister-in-law, Ester Lewis.
Serving as pallbearers will be Chris Burleigh, Johnny Burleigh, Jeremy Burleigh, Shane Burleigh, Eric Burleigh and Matt Scott.
