Obituary

Alice Irene Thomason Theriot, 97, passed to eternal life on March 9, 2016. She was born on April 7, 1918 in Brayden, Oklahoma to Alta Mae Gibson Thomason and Walter James Thomason. Her father died three months before her birth in the Influenza Epidemic of 1918. Alice and her family moved to Fort Smith, Arkansas where she lived until the age of nine when she moved to Port Arthur, Texas. Alice graduated from Port Arthur High in 1936 where she met and married her husband of 65 years, Rivers Louis Theriot. They had five children. Her husband and children were the joy of her life.

Alice was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brother-M.V. Thomason, sister-Mildred Hajecate and grandchildren Mark Gibson Dumesnil, Christopher Lynn Dumesnil, Darren Thomason Parker, and Leslie Paige Parker. Survivors are her daughters Beverly Landrum Stansbury and husband Roland, Sherry Parker, Karen Veillon and husband Nathan, Jan Tomlin and husband Charles, and son Greig Theriot and wife Debbie all of the Golden Triangle area and by her grandchildren Jay Dumesnil, Gayle Dumesnil LeMaire, Kurt Dumesnil, Chuck Landrum, Michael Parker, Stephen Parker, Kelly Veillon Valerio, David Tomlin, Rachel Theriot, Ryan Theriot, Mark Tomlin and Derek Veillon, 20 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed by all.

Visitation will be held on Monday March 14, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Claybar Funeral Home in Bridge City. A rosary and wake service will be at 6:30 p.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Henry Catholic Church in Bridge City. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Port Arthur.

Her pallbearers will be her grandsons.

I loved my Aunt so much. I can't imagine not being able to just pick up the phone and call her. There isn't enough words to describe how devoted she was to her husband and children, all of her family; as they were to her. She has such a loving, caring and compassionate family that I am so grateful to be a part of. I've never in my life ever seen such an adoring couple as Uncle Rivers and Aunt Alice. I know they are together again. I'm also sure Momma is right by her side. All my love and prayers go out to the family.

To all the Theriot family, our sincere sympathy for the loss of such a wonderful, special matriarch of the family. She was loved by so many, and deservedly so. She was something very special. What a beautiful, long, full life she led, blessed in so many ways by each of you. She was very ready to go meet our Lord and Savior and her dear Rivers, but we're never ready, so I continue to pray for peace and comfort for each of you. Mrs. Theriot was the best neighbor one could ask for. I know she was loved by the many gatherings that took place at her house and the numerous family members that would be present at the gatherings.
