Alice Blanche Singleton, 98, longtime resident of Hartburg, Texas, passed from this life peacefully in her home on November 3, 2014 in Tyler, Texas where she resided the last nine years. Her family was at her side. Alice lived a full and rewarding life by being a blessing to others. Alice and her husband, Raymond Buck Singleton, raised their family in Hartburg where he pastored Oak Grove Tabernacle for many years. After 58 years of marriage Raymond Buck passed away in 2000.
She is survived by her loving family including children Joyce Symes and husband Rodney of Tyler, and Margaret Lavine-Nissen and husband Dale, of Pearland; grandchildren Raymond Lavine and wife Witnie of Beaumont, Susan Bohot and husband Roger of Minneapolis, MN, Rodney Symes III and wife Crystal of Lancaster, and Yvette Ochoa, of Santa Fe; 12 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great—grandchild; and sister-in-law Irene Dufield, of Owasso, OK.
She was born October 11, 1916 in Little Rock, AR to Benjamin Franklin and Rosalee Conner Dufield.
Her gentle love and kindness touched and influenced everyone who came into her presence. She will be remembered as "Little Alice", a nickname given to her by her Buck. She was an esteemed lady of dignity and honor, a Proverbs 31 woman in the truest sense.
Services will be held on Saturday, November 8, 2014 at 2:00 pm at Oak Grove Tabernacle in Hartburg with Rev. James Sellers officiating. Visitation is scheduled from 1:00 to 2:00 pm at the church.
She will be buried alongside her Buck at King Cemetery in Hartburg under the direction of Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. Arrangements in Tyler were under the direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home.
