Alice Ruth Whitton

Alice Ruth Caffey Whitton was called home to our Lord on November 29, 2013. Alice was born on March 21, 1931 in Corsicana, Tx to William T. & Lillian Fuller Caffey. She moved to Orange in May, 1941. She married her high school sweetheart and soul mate, Harold Curtis Whitton Sr., on November 21, 1946. They were married for 56 1/2 years before his passing.

Alice graduated from Stark High School in 1949. She trained as a LVN at Orange Memorial School of Nursing where she worked for many years. She also worked as Director of Nursing at Myricks Nursing Home & Concepts of Care. She later opened Americare & worked as Director there. She was a member of North Orange Baptist Church and a 50 year lifetime member of Eastern Star of Orange, Chapter 214. She enjoyed playing bridge with her friends and loved spending time with her family and her dog, Tut

Alice was preceded in death by her parents (William T. and Lillian Fuller Caffey), her husband (Harold Curtis Whitton, Sr.), son (Tommy Joe Whitton), sister (Peggy Caffey Prince), and brother (William T. Caffey, Jr.). She is survived by her loving son and daughter-in-law (Harold Curtis Whitton, Jr. and Sharon Whitton), daughter-in-law (Ann Whitton Martin), grandchildren (Doug and Crystal Heigley), (Shawn and Allyson Butler), and (Natalie Lingo). Great Grandchildren (Easton, Shalea, and Kyler Heigley), (Bethany and Brielle Butler), (Jacob Martin, Skyler Menard, Kayla and Zoe Lingo).

Funeral Services will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, December 1, 2013, at Claybar Funeral Home Chapel in Orange with Brother Lynn Ashcraft officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens near Bridge City. Serving as Pallbearers will be Doug Heigley, Shawn Butler, Jacob Martin, Easton Heigley, Skyler Menard and Harold Bull.

Visitation will begin at 12:00 p.m. Sunday, at the funeral home.

The family would like to thank The Harbor House and Harbor Hospice staff and her devoted caregivers, Monty Phillips and Anita Block.
