Allie Venita Sis Rush

On Monday, December 12, 2011, Allie Sis Dixon Rush, 89, passed away at Harbor Hospice in Beaumont, Texas.

Lovingly known to family and friends as "Sis" and "MawMaw", Allie was born on December 1, 1922, to Clarence Charles and Kitty Lou Hughes Dixon in Hammond, Louisiana, and later became a resident of Orange County for 65 years. She moved to Orange, Texas in 1946, with her husband Jesse N. Rush. They were happily married 66 years until his death on September 9, 2005.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her three brothers, Bill Dixon and wife Fadra of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Tommy Dixon of Bridge City, Texas, John Dixon of Orange, and Nelson Dixon and wife Janice of Orange; granddaughter, Terry Stevenson of Bee Branch, Arkansas; nephews, Ronnie Dixon of Orange, Texas, Charles Dixon of Bridge City, and Billie Dixon of Baton Rouge.

Allie Rush is survived by her four children, J.C. Rush and wife Martha of Orange, Mary Mazoch and husband John of Orange, Ann Roberts and husband Tommy of Bee Branch, Arkansas, Kenneth Rush and wife Sara of Orlando, Florida; grandchildren and spouses, Christi and Larry Moerbe of Orange, Charles and Lora Darden of Round Rock, Texas, Lisa Vercher of Orange, Mike and Rashona Rush of Orange, Beckey Gram of Bee Branch, Arkansas, Jessica and Eric Anderson of New York City, New York, Ben Rush of Winston-Salem, North Carolina; great-grandchildren, Jonathan Stevenson, Sydney Wimberley, Michael Langford, Dusty Stevenson, Samantha Smith, Charlie Brown, Emily Vercher, Lanie Rush, Kensley Rush, Sarah Moerbe and Matthew Moerbe; brother, Oscar Dixon and wife Bea of Orange; sister-in-law, Agnus Dixon of Orange, Jean Dixon of Bridge City; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Sis's enjoyment of life was spending quality time with her family, playing bingo and traveling with her late husband, Jesse "Nap". For many years, she was a paper carrier for the Orange Leader and also had worked in the Bridge City Independent School District as a cafeteria food specialist. She will be deeply missed by those who loved and cherished her.

Funeral Services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, December 15, 2011, at Claybar Funeral Home Chapel in Orange. Officiating will be Reverend Lynn Ashcraft, retired pastor of North Orange Baptist Church and assisted by Chaplain Jerry Center with Harbor Hospice. Burial will follow at Orange Forest Lawn Cemetery in West Orange.

Visitation will begin at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, at the funeral home.

Serving as Pallbearers will be Charles Darden, Mike Rush, Ben Rush, Charlie Brown, Curt Dixon, Jimmy Dixon, Sherby Dixon, Mike Dixon, John Mazoch and Larry Moerbe.
