Born in Mart, Texas, on June 12, 1934, she was the daughter of William Clayton Roy and Althie Ostelle Rose Roy. A talented homemaker, Althie was known for making the most delicious homemade pies and cinnamon rolls. Her best recipes were handed down to her grandchildren for future generations to enjoy. While being great at many things, Althie’s proudest accomplishment in life was her family. Whether it be the title Mom, Maw Maw, Sister, or Wife, she was the best at them all. A longtime member of Bridge City Church of Christ, she is sure to be missed dearly by her church family as well as anyone who had the pleasure of knowing and loving her.
She is preceded in death by her parents, William and Althie Roy; her husband, Michael Lingo; her daughter, Gay Dale Ferguson; her brothers, William Roy, Marvin Roy, and James Earl Roy; and her sister, Rose Lanelle Hollingsworth.
Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Wesley Clayton Lingo and wife, Janet of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; her son-in-law, Scott Ferguson of Nederland; her grandchildren, Cristen Ardabili and husband, Shawn, Catelyn Myers, and Joshua Ferguson; and her great-grandchildren, Cyrus and Caspian Ardabili; along with numerous other loving family members and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Sunny Glen Children’s Home in San Benito, Texas or to The Southeast Texas Food Bank.
