Alton Joseph ?AJ? Broussard, Jr., 70, of Orange, died Tuesday, July 17, 2007, at his residence.
Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, July 21, 2007, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. Reverend David L. Logan will officiate. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Orange.
Visitation will be 5:00-9:00 p.m., Friday at the funeral home.
A.J. was born September 9, 1936, in Sulpher, LA to Loney Duron and Alton Joseph Broussard, Sr.
Woodworking was Alton?s passion. He also enjoyed painting and photography. He was a cartoonist for the Penny Record newspaper.
Alton was preceded in death by his parents, Alton Sr. and Loney Broussard, brothers, Donnie Broussard and Louis Dugas.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Broussard, son David Broussard and Wife Frances of Fort Worth, daughter Cristy W. Gavlick and husband Bob of Houston, sons Mike Rhame and wife Kelli of Nederland, Terry Rhame and wife Julie of Tyler and David Rhame and wife Karen of Vidor, godchild Alyece Urice, grandchildren, AJ Broussard, Jonathan Gavlick, Nicholas Gavlick, Emily Gavlick, Elijah Rhame and Allyson Rhame. Surviving him also are brother, Richard Broussard of Buna, sisters, Vivian Dorman and Margaret Conway of Orange.
Serving as pallbearers will be Nicky Gavlick, Johnny Gavlick, Bob Gavlick, Reb Broussard, Brandon Dorman and Mike Rhame. Honorary pallbearers will be David Rhame and Larry Dorman.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial donations be made to Professional Health Care Hospice, Attn: Amy Detwiler. 2533 Calder, Beamont, TX 77702.
