A Life Remembered
Obituary
Alvah J. Brown, 81, of Mauriceville, passed away on August 21, 2017, at his home.
Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, August 23, 2017, at First Baptist Church in Mauriceville. Officiating will be Reverend Kevin Brown and Reverend Brandon Hanson. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Orange.
Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., Tuesday, August 22, 2017, at the church.
Born in Robeline, Louisiana, on December 21, 1935, he was the son of James Ray Brown and Bertie Mae (Fisher) Brown. A.J. worked for DuPont Sabine River Works for 37 years before retiring. He was an active member and deacon of First Baptist Church in Mauriceville. He loved fishing, camping, traveling, and anything to do with the outdoors. He also enjoyed singing and playing guitar. He was loved by many and will be greatly missed.
He was preceded in death by parents; step-father, Frank S. Grimes; and brothers, Jimmy Wayne Brown, and Norman Terrell Brown.
He is survived by his wife of over 54 years, Ruby C. Brown of Mauriceville; children, Kevin Ray Brown and wife, Kristy, of Mauriceville, and Nikki L. Brown Hanson and husband, Brandon, of Mauriceville; grandchildren, Logan Ray Brown, Abbey Elizabeth Brown, Matthew Christopher Brown, Luke Joshua Hanson, and Nicholas Wade Hanson; and brother, Donald R. Brown and wife, Lupe.
Serving as pallbearers will be Logan Brown, Matthew Brown, Brandon Hanson, Luke Hanson, Nicholas Hanson, and Johnnie Ray Smith. Honorary pallbearers are Donald Brown, Chris Brown, Ricky Brown, and the Deacons of First Baptist Church Mauriceville.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to First Baptist Church Mauriceville Building Fund or Parking Lot Fund at P.O. Box 56, Mauriceville, TX 77626.
