Alvin Huey Perry, Sr., 84, of Mauriceville, Texas, passed away on May 3, 2019, in Beaumont, Texas.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 7, 2019, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange, Texas. Officiating will be Kevin Brown of Mauriceville Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Orange.
Visitation will be held prior to the service, beginning at 12:00 p.m., at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.
Born in Orange, Texas, on July 19, 1934, he was the son of Eli Perry and Olive (Abshire) Perry. Alvin served his country in U. S. Army. He then went on to work as a records clerk for Chevron Chemical in Orange, where he later retired. Alvin was a hardworking man and never missed a day of work in 37 years. He loved music and especially enjoyed playing the banjo in his bluegrass band. Alvin also loved traveling and going on road trips. He always looked forward to traveling to North Carolina to pick up apples. Alvin was a great father and a great husband. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Eli and Olive Perry; his six brothers; and his two sisters.
He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Peggy Perry; his children, Alvin Perry, Jr. and wife Sheryl of Mauriceville, and Susan Bryant and husband James of Tomball; his grandchildren, Julie, Emily, Abby, J. R., and Hannah; his great-grandchildren, Hayden, Brystol, Henry; his expected great-grandchild, Trace Edward; his siblings, John, Tiny, and Matthew; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Serving as pallbearers will be Oscar Lyons, B. J. Jones, Shea Johnson, J. R. Bryant, John Williford, and Dickie Perry.
