Andrew Clifford Font, Jr., 79, of Orange, passed away peacefully with his wife and children by his side on April 4, 2021, in Port Arthur.
Memorial services will be 6:00 p.m., Thursday, April 15, 2021, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. Officiating will be Brother Johnny Woodard.
Visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m., Thursday, April 15, 2021, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.
Born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, on August 2, 1941, he was the son of Andrew Clifford Font, Sr. and Mertie Mae (Wilson) Font. In his youth he lived many places with his family before settling in Orange as an adult. Andrew worked as a Millwright for the Papermill at Owens-Illinois/Inland Orange. He retired from there after 33 years of hard work. Andrew loved fishing and was a member of the Orange Boating Club. He enjoyed playing cards and dominoes with his many friends. He was a talented pool player and had many trophies from his pool days. Andrew was a member of the Madison Lodge 126 and a Mason for 35 years. He had a huge heart and would go miles for anyone he met. He would give the shirt off of his back to any stranger and made everyone feel at home. Andrew was a devout Christian and enjoyed serving his Lord faithfully. He was a patriarch for his family and enjoyed providing for and protecting them. Andrew adored his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and loved his dogs. He will be deeply missed by all those who came to know and love him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew Sr. and Mertie Font; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Chester and Margie Taylor; sister-in-law, Rosie Pope; brother-in-law, Benny Pope; nephew, Jimmy Dunman; and niece, Jana Raye Pope.
He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Dorothy Jean Taylor Font of Orange; children, Bruce Alan Font, Cynthia Renee “Cindy” Font, and Troy Lee Font, all of Orange; grandchildren, Darren, Cassie, Eric, David, Jessica, Brittany, Joshua, and Caitlyn; 11 great-grandchildren; seven sisters; and one brother; along with many nieces, nephews, and extended loving family.
