Andrew Guidry, 76, of Orange passed away Sunday, December 28, 2008.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, December 31, 2008 at 10:00 A.M., at St. Mary Catholic Church in Orange with Reverend Joseph P. Daleo officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Bridge City. A gathering of family and friends will be Tuesday, December 30, from 5:00-9:00 P.M. at Claybar Funeral Home at 504 N 5th Street in Orange with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 P.M. in the mortuary under the direction of Deacon Melvin Payne.

Andrew was born on January 8, 1932 in Perry, Louisiana to parents Leon and Agnes Derouen Guidry. He graduated from Bell City High School in Calcasieu Parish in 1950 and served in the US Army as a paratrooper in the Korean Conflict. He was retired as an insulator out of Local 112 in Lake Charles, Louisiana. Andrew was very active in the service of his community and church as a Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Assembly 1105, Orange Council 1680. He was a longtime active member of St. Mary Catholic Church where he served as an usher, cooked for church barbeques and worked in the soup kitchen. Andrew also served many years in the Bridge City Optimist Club. He deeply loved the Lord and lived his life joyfully serving others.

Andrew was preceded in death by his first wife, Mildred Ann Guidry and son-in-law Lawrence Jacobs.

Andrew is survived by sons, David Guidry and wife Pam of Bridge City, Richard Guidry and wife Tami of Bridge City, Paul Guidry and wife Debbie of Orangefield, and daughters, Jennifer Franklin and husband Gary of Bridge City, Paula Jacobs of Orangefield. In addition, two loving sister-in-laws raised in his home, Alta Posey of Pearland and Joyce Farr of Baytown.

He also leaves a proud legacy of 9 beautiful grandchildren who were the joy of his life, Andrew Guidry, Matthew Guidry, Amy Guidry, Mallory Guidry, Amanda Guidry, Evan Guidry, Jessica Franklin, Lyndi Franklin, and Adam Jacobs.

He is also survived by his wife, Carrie James Guidry of Orange and five step-children, Cindy Briggs, Dean James, David James, Charlene Guest and Derek James and step-grandchildren, Rachel Briggs, Samantha Briggs, Ryan Guest, James Guest, Taylor James and Alexis James.

Serving as pallbearers are Andrew Guidry, Matthew Guidry, Evan Guidry, Gary Franklin, Robert Evans and Blake Johnson.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Mary Catholic Church in memory of Andrew for the repair of the Church Fellowship Hall.
