Andrew Jackson Stephens, 62 passed on to be with the Lord on a beautiful sunny day surrounded by his loving family and friends. Andrew left this world on Friday, October 24, 2008.
Andrew was the youngest of 6 children born to the late Edward and Nellie Stephens on February 27, 1946, in Chester, PA. Andrew was raised in Junction City, KY, where he spent most of his life and the place he would forever refer to as home. Andrew was married on October 16, 1963 to the love of his life Alice Snow Stephens. Andrew and Alice were blessed with the love of five children: Michael Snow Lisa of GA, Tammy Jo Posey Danny of Buna, Nellie Mae Miller Matt of Orange, Andrew Jackson Stephens II Michele of Orange, Anna Marie Daugherty of Junction City, KY.
Andrew was a soldier in the army of the Lord at The Orange Texas Salvation Army. Andrew traveled the nation as a truck driver for many years. He was a craftsman, a black smith, farmer and avid fisherman and the world's greatest grandfather not only to his own but every child he met. Many people remember him as the funny old man in a cowboy hat. No one could forget his smiling face and constant joking.
Andrew was preceded by his parents as well as two brothers, Norman and Clyde Stephens, also a grandson, Marcus Anthony.
Andrew leaves behind all his children whom love him greatly as well as two sisters, Freda Hall and Rosie Sinkhorn of Junction City, KY, one brother, Luther Stephens. Andrews greatest treasure on earth were his grandchildren whom he leaves behind: Mike Snow, Jr., Alayce Flanagan, Will Daugherty, Daniel Posey, Jesse Daugherty, Elizabeth Flanagan, Andrew Jackson Stephens III, Adena Daugherty, Nick Daugherty, Ben Daugherty, Tyler Miller, Jonathan Stephens, Abby Stephens, Miranda Daugherty, and two great grandchildren, Melodie and Haylee.
Andrew will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him. He had many children and grandchildren whom he adopted in his heart as his own.
Funeral service will be 3:00 p.m., Monday, October 27, 2008 at Salvation Army on MLK in Orange. Officiating will be Major John Queener. Internment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be from 5:00-9:00 p.m. on Sunday at Claybar Funeral Home, 1408 Park
in Orange.
