Anita Janeanne "Jan" King, 92, of Bridge City, TX, entered into the presence of the Lord on September 20, 2025.
Born in Cherokee, OK, on June 2, 1933, Jan was the daughter of J. Herbert Smith and Mary Lorraine Roller Smith. While in college she met and married her loving husband of 56 years, Melvin "Mel" E. King. Together they had three children, Ron, Stephanie, and Larry. She loved her family immensely and left behind a legacy of love, care, and dedication.
Jan was a member of One City Church, Beaumont, TX. Her faith in Christ guided her every step. She will be forever remembered for her joyful spirit, her passion for music, and her love for God's word.
She is preceded in death by her parents, J. Herbert and Mary L. Smith; her husband, Melvin E. King; and her brother, John H. Smith.
She is survived by her son, Ronald King and wife, Susan; daughter, Stephanie Pfister and husband, Bill; son, Larry King and wife, Patti. Her grandchildren, Bradley King and wife, Anya, Anthony "AJ" Mazzola and wife, Macy, Nicholas Pfister, Alan King, Bridgette Raines and husband, Taylor. Also, her great-grandchildren, Victoria King, and Brenton, Hensley, Mason, and Vivienne Mazzola.
Visitation will be at 10:00 am, Wednesday, October 1, 2025, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange, TX. Funeral Services will begin at 11:00 am. Burial will follow at Orange Forest Lawn Cemetery in West Orange.
The family would like to express their deep gratitude to Nadia Cabrera and her staff at Holland Place Senior Living in Nederland, TX, as well as, John Toney and his staff at Stonewood Hospice in Orange, TX. Together they provided loving, compassionate, professional care for our sweet Mom.
