Marjorie Ann Jackson Dickerson
February 23, 1942 - August 14, 2019
Our beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother and incredible friend was called to her heavenly home on August 14, 2019. She departed surrounded by all those she loved and who also loved her.
DeDe, as she was known to those closest to her, was born February 23, 1942 in Natchitoches, LA and grew up in the Orange, Texas – Vinton, Louisiana area. After 20 years of employment with the USPS, she spent the remaining years devoted to her family. She loved to travel and plan trips, cook and sew. And if you knew her well, you properly have a blanket she made with love. She loved organizing family gatherings and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren that she took great joy in babysitting. Throughout her two year battle with cancer, she exuded grace, determination, courage and passion to spend her days with those she loved. Through this uphill journey, she taught us how living and dying are truly about the same thing… LOVE.
Those left behind to cherish her memory include 3 children in whom she took great pride - John Marshall Dickerson IV, Thomas Wayne Dickerson and Cynthia Dickerson Poluk as well as their respective spouses, Terri Manual Dickerson, Silvia Villeda Dickerson and Jon W Poluk. DeDe had a special bond with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. If you were within hearing distance of her, you knew all about them. She couldn’t help but bubble over with love and pride for them. She leaves behind John Marshall Dickerson V; Coby Shane Poluk; Mysti Rachelle Dickerson; William Kyler Poluk; Paulena Jewel Dickerson; and Logan Marshall Poluk along with eight greatgrandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, cousins and too many friends to try to mention.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Orvis Jewel Jackson and Marjorie Mann Jackson along with two loving brothers, James Archie Jackson and Orvis Wayne Jackson.
Her family will host a viewing on Thursday, August 15 from 5-7 pm at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange, Texas along with a celebration of her life on Friday, August 16 at 2 pm at Claybar Funeral Home with burial to follow at Orange Forest Lawn Cemetery.
