Ann Lou Matson Gauthier was born August 13, 1939, in Jasper, Alabama. She married Marvin “Tony” Gauthier at a young age in Mississippi, and then moved to Texas and raised their three children, Bruce, April and Clint.
She was very artistic and creative. She loved to sew, refinish furniture, oil paint. and later on designed and made beaded jewelry from vintage beads. She also enjoyed working in her flower garden when she could. One of her favorite things to do was flea marketing. It was like a treasure hunt for her, and she could always find a bargain. She was a member of Winfree Baptist Church and volunteered part time in the office. She made many friends there.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Tony Gauthier, her parents, Lou Emma and Fayette Matson; brothers, George and Roy Matson; and sisters, Mary Butler and Betty Taylor.
She is survived by her children, Bruce Gauthier and wife Susan of Bridge City, April Porterfield and husband Hal of Hemphill and Clint Gauthier of Orange; grandchildren, Clint Gauthier, Jr. and Lindsay Harrison and husband Scott; four great-grandchildren, Presleigh, Maison, Savannah and Paislee.
The family would like to thank the staff of Southeast Texas Hospice for their great care and compassion.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Humane Society of Southeast Texas.
