Anthony Joseph Lucia, Jr. 67, of Bridge City, Texas, passed away on September 18, 2023, peacefully at his home in Bridge City, Texas.
Born in Orange, Texas, on September 17, 1956, he was the son of Anthony Joseph Lucia, Sr. and Josie Sherville Lucia. Growing up Anthony was a very determined worker. His first job at the age of 16 was delivering the paper on his motorcycle, but only on the most pretty days. Now, on days the weather was bad, you can best bet he was dragging his big sister along with him in the morning to do his paper routes before school. Anthony was a jack of all trades and his most favorite job was when he worked for Lucia Mini-Mart, where he was a butcher for over 20 years. Anthony worked at Car Works Auto Sales with Owner Melissa Butler, where he won employee of the month (even though he was the only employee). His last career title was Financial Counselor at Commercial Credit. He enjoyed all of his careers so much, but what he loved to do most was get his family together. He was an excellent cook, and catered all of the family gatherings. Along with family time, Anthony also enjoyed going camping with his friends. He was a giving man who would give the shirt off of his back to a complete stranger. Anthony had a servant’s heart and was a very loving man. He will be missed by everyone who knew and loved him.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Anthony and Josie Lucia.
He is survived by his siblings, Josie Powell and husband Mike, Geraldine Magnuson and late husband Rocky, Frances Lucia-Morgan, Allan Lucia, and Vincent Patrick Lucia. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews who are like his own children, Melissa Sawyers, Teresa Baker, Will Whitley, Curt Lucia, Steven Morgan, Misti Brooke Lucia, Rocky Magnuson, Chris Magnuson, and Scott Magnuson.
The family would like to express a special thank you to Southeast Texas Hospice, and all of their amazing staff. The family would also, like to thank Yvette Cotton for her kind and compassionate care.
Cremation will be held under the direction of Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.

I've known Anthony and his family for 37 years. You just don't find people like the Lucia's. He will be sorely missed! I'm so grateful I got to see him 2 days before he passed and he was alert and recognized me and we had some good conversation. For that, I'll be eternally grateful. And that he didn't suffer is so important to me. Prayers and Condolences to all of the family. Thank God for Frances that she took care of him to the very end! She's amazing. They're all amazing people. I was very Blessed to know them!

Lucia family, I am so very sorry for the loss of your loved. I always knew him as "Little Anthony". I was young when my Dad, Homer DeLoach worked at Lucia's so many years ago. Many prayers for comfort and peace from my family to yours. Judy DeLoach Toney and family.

Anthony was so sweet and kind to everyone. He always called the girls "Baby" and had that special nack of making people laugh. I know he will be greatly missed, prayers for the family in the days ahead.

To all of Anthony’s siblings: I have many fond memories of Anthony. We shared the same birthday but my favorite memory was one morning when I woke up to find him sitting on the porch eating donuts. He started with a dozen, two for each of you. After eating his share, he ate another. Since one of you would have only one donut, he decided that he would eat four more so that you each had only one. Then he decided he was already in trouble so he finished the remaining donuts. He was always so good to Kirk and Tammy. He was a kind loving person and the world lost a great person when he moved on to heaven. Love, Elaine Hobbs
