Arlene Summers Johnston, 88, of Orange, died Thursday, April 9, 2009 at Baptist Orange Hospital.
Graveside services will be 10:00, Saturday, April 11, 2009 at Orange Forest Lawn. Officiating will be Reverend David Millner of Calvary Baptist Church.
Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.
Arlene was born on November 2, 1920, in Sulphur, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of Bill and Mattie Griffith Summers.
She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents, Noel and Sally Griffith; son, Constable Parker "PT" Thompson; brother, Orville Summers; son-in-law, Richard Hudson, Sr.
Survivors include her husband, Howard S. Johnston; her sons, Harold D. Thompson of Orange, Donald and Gladys Thompson of Mineola; daughter, Dorothy Hudson of Bridge City; grandchildren, Jennifer Nichols, Leslie Thompson, Russell Thompson, Richard Hudson, Jr., and Brian Hudson; great- grandchildren Marissa Thompson, Jaelyn Nichols, and Kylie Reed.
Mrs. Johnston was a Christian that dedicated her life to her family. Her grandchildren were constantly entranced by her tales of years past.
Serving as pallbearers will be grandchildren, Russell Thompson, Richard Hudson, Jr., Brian Hudson, Shawn Skinner, and sons Harold Thompson and Donald Thompson.
