Aubrey A. Nations, 96, of Orange, passed away June 8, 2009, at The Meadows in Orange.
Funeral services will be 10:00 am, Thursday, June 11, 2009, at Hartburg Baptist Church in Hartburg, Texas. Officiating will be Reverend Fred Raney, a personal tribute by Ronald Johnson and Masonic Rites by Jim Hamilton.
Graveside service will be 3:30 pm at Lone Cedar Cemetery in Center, Texas.
Visitation will be between 5:00-10:00 p.m. Wednesday, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.
Aubrey was born on April 1, 1913, in Bulloch County, Georgia. He was the son of Alexander Terrel Nation and Miriam Catherine Godbee Nation. Aubrey was a member of the Masonic Lodge 833 where he reached 32nd Scottish Rite. He was a member of the Hartburg Baptist Church and was a Deacon since 1958 and also a member of Southern Baptist Convention for 75 years.
Aubrey loved to grow vegetables in his garden and give them away. His avorite saying was "Never late, never lazy".
He was preceded in death by his wife, Vertie Nations; sons, John E. Nations, Spencer Alex Nations; and sisters and brothers, Ethel Woods, Clarence Nations, Lela Childress, Florence Warren, Beatrice Bragg, Ola Dunn, Gladys Hollingsworth, Alva Nations, Ernest Nations and Earl Nations.
Those left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Marta Katherine Frazier and her husband James W. of Orange; daughter-in-law, Sara Jane Nations; grandchildren, John Aubrey Nations, Kyle Ernest Nations, Lance Howard Nations, Rachel Kaye Frazier, Deborah Ann Howard; and great-grandchildren, Adam Nations, Kyle Rae Nations, Kayla Nations, Courtney Nations, Landon Nations, Brant Nations, and Trysten Rhea Howard.
Serving as Pallbearers will be Lee Houghton, David Watson, Adam Nations, Justin Johnson, Kyle Rae Nations and Kenneth Johnson.
