Avery Joseph Burke, III, 70, of Orange, died Monday, October 13, 2008, at Harbor Hospital in Orange.
Visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m. Wednesday with a memorial service at 7:00 p.m. at the temporary location of Claybar Funeral Home, 1408 W. Park Ave., the former Park Ave. Methodist Church building in Orange.
The burial will take place at 10:00 a.m. Thursday at Wilkinson Cemetery in Little Cypress.
Born in Beaumont on October 24, 1937, he was the son of Avery Joseph Burke and Melba Kathryn Dickens Burke. He was a Boatswain Mate for Sabine Shipping for 31 years.
Preceded in death by his wife, Helen Marcella Burke and daughter, Maryann Elizabeth Norton, Mr. Burke is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Avery W. and Brooke Burke of Orange; step-daughter, Georgia Wooster of Orange; grandchildren, Brian Broussard, Ryan Burke, Shelby Wooster, Mikayla Robnett, Seth Norton, Konnor Norton, Mason Burke and great granddaughter, Aliya Broussard.
Also surviving is his sister, Marcia Sanchez; brother, Miron Burke and his wife, Glory; step-brothers, Edgar D. Landry and Trilby Landry; step-sister, Cora Bell Obre; half-sisters, Theresa Blanco, Amanda Stewart, Melissa McGuire, Albina Burke, Mary Cotton, Molly Hanson and half-brother, James Allen Burke.
