Belinda Kay Thibodeaux entered her eternal rest peacefully, surrounded by her loved ones, on September 14, 2024, at the age of 69 in Houston, TX. Born on November 23, 1954, in Port Arthur, TX, Belinda spent her entire life in the warmth and comfort of the close-knit community of Bridge City.
Belinda was a loving mother, devoted sister, and cherished aunt. She adored spending time with her family, making every family event and holiday even more special just by being there. Belinda knew no stranger—whether you knew her for a moment or a lifetime, she made you feel as if you had known her forever. Her laughter was contagious, and she found immense joy in spoiling her family, especially her children and nieces and nephews, all of whom lovingly called her "Aunt Bea." She treated them as if they were her own, and they, in turn, adored her.
For 34 years, Belinda dedicated her life to serving others as the Director of Volunteers at Southeast Texas Hospice in Orange, TX. Her compassion, kindness, and unwavering commitment to helping others in their most vulnerable moments touched countless lives.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Shelton and Viola Thibodeaux, and her brothers, Mark Thibodeaux and Shelton Thibodeaux, Jr.
She is survived by her daughter, April Smith, and her husband, Jamison Smith, of Austin, TX; her son, Keith Huckabay, and his husband, Mario Velasquez, of Houston, TX; her sister, Charlotte Duncan, and her husband, Bob, of Mauriceville, TX; her sister, Tammie Roy, and her husband, Gary, of Houston, TX and her sister in law, Jennie Thibodeaux of Horseshoe Bay, TX. “Aunt Bea” also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews who will forever hold her close in their hearts.
Serving as honorary pal bearers are her godsons Jared Verrett, Jordan Roy, Taylor Roy, and Mark Duncan and her nephews Chad Thibodeaux, Mitchell Duncan, and Garrett Roy.
A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Henry’s Catholic Church in Bridge City, TX, on Friday, September 20, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. A Rosary will be said in her memory before the service. A private graveside service will be held for only the immediate family at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.
Belinda’s family would like to thank Houston Hospice and JM Home Health for the love and care they showed. How they cared for her was how her Southeast Texas Hospice family would have if they had been able to.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Southeast Texas Hospice in honor of Belinda’s dedication to the organization and the community she loved so dearly.
