Bernice Riling

Bernice Mathews Riling, 81, of Orange, Texas, passed away on December 27, 2016.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, December 30, 2016, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. Officiating will be Reverend David Turner. Burial will follow at Houston National Cemetery.

Visitation will be held prior to the service beginning at 1:00 p.m.

Born in Smithers, West Virginia, on July 9, 1935, Bernice was the daughter of Samuel and Minnie Mathews. She was a member of Little Cypress Baptist Church since 1978, where she sang in the choir and taught Sunday School. Bernice enjoyed spending time with her family, especially back in West Virginia. “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.” 2 Timothy 4:7.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her sisters, Doris Petry and Norma Smith.

She is survived by her loving husband, John Riling, of Orange; son, Scott Riling, of Houston; grandchildren, Sophie Rosetsky and husband Rodrigo, Morgan Riling, Matthew Riling, and Chloe Riling; and her brothers, Delph and Delbert Mathews.
