1941 ∼ 2026

Bertha Mae Barron

Bertha Mae Barron, a beloved sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on May 12, 2026, in Vidor, Texas. She was born on February 19, 1941, in Kaplan, Louisiana.

Bertha was truly a "mom" to many, always offering unwavering support to her children in everything they pursued. She embraced life with a positive spirit and attitude, known for always having a good time and, as a typical middle child, often putting one toe over the line with a playful spirit. An entrepreneur at heart, Bertha always had some kind of business venture going. She cherished her time on cruises, finding joy in every journey. A devout Catholic, Bertha grew up attending St. Mary Catholic School in Orange and was an active member of the Ladies Auxiliary at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Vidor. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life.

Bertha was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jack Barron; her parents, Obray and Elda Fontenot; her children, Aaron Barron and Cristal Dorsey; her sister, Effie Gregg; and her grandchildren, Summer Conn and Beau Barron.

She is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Denita Schmieg and husband Bryan; her son, Dr. Bryan Barron and wife Jamie; her grandchildren, Autumn Meyers and husband Colton, Stephen Rayon and wife Emily, Dalton Dorsey and wife Taina, Donovan Dorsey, and Devin Dorsey. Bertha's legacy continues through her great-grandchildren, Tyler Conn and wife Kaylee, Trenton Conn and wife Halee, Tanner Conn, Graham Meyers, and Emma Rayon, and her great-great-grandchild, Arya Conn. She is also survived by her sister, Eva Smith and husband Ross; cousins by the dozens, as well as numerous other loving family and friends.

A private family service will be held at a later date.

Cremation will be held under the direction of Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.
