Bertha Bass Evans, 93, of Orange, passed away, Tuesday, May 6th, 2008, at Oakwood Manor in Vidor.
Funeral Service will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, May 9th, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. Reverend David Turner of Little Cypress Baptist Church will officiate. Interment will follow at Orange Forest Lawn.
Visitation will be 5:00-8:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
Bertha was born November 24, 1914, in Olla, LA to Carrey Tom Bass and Birdie R. Ratcliff.
Bertha was a member of Little Cypress Baptist Church, and worked in the food service industry for West Orange Independent School District. She loved to garden and spend time at her church.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Edward, sons, Gerald Evans, Charles Evans, and Tommy Evans, daughter, Helen Hanson, and grandson, Michael Evans.
She is survived by five grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.
She especially loved her family and was especially grateful for the care, love and support shown to her by Kim, Kandice, Krystal, Kendall, Kayla and J.J.
Serving as pallbearers are Tim Reynolds, Ed Bacon, J.J. Johnson, Tim Fife, Robert McClendon and Ty Evans.
