Obituary
A rosary and funeral service will be held at 6:00 p.m. Friday, December 6, 2013, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. Visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m. and will continue after the service until 9:00 p.m.
The graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 7, 2013, at St. Francis De Sales Cemetery #2 in Houma, Louisiana.
Born in Chauvin, Louisiana on January 8, 1917, Bessie was the daughter of Christopher Columbus Lecompte and Emma (Forest) Lecompte. She was baptized on January 17, 1917, at St. Ann Catholic Church in Bourg, Louisiana. She married Sterling Thomas LaRose on July 15, 1934, at St. Francis De Sales Catholic Church in Houma, Louisiana.
Bessie was a long time resident of West Orange and was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Orange. She retired from the West Orange-Cove CISD where she worked in the cafeterias of West Orange High School and Lorena Oates Elementary School.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Sterling LaRose; son, Larry LaRose; and two grandsons, Mark Gregg and Charles “Chuck” (Chuckie) Guidry, Jr.
Bessie is survived by her daughters, Rosalie LaRose Duet of Houma, Louisiana, Shirley Williams and husband, Danny of Tomball and Linda LaRose of West Orange; five grandchildren, Gary LaRose and wife, Lori, Kevin LaRose and wife Stacey, Sterling Gregg and wife, Chereé, Johnny Williams and wife, Katy and Kristi Williams; eighteen great-grandchildren; and fourteen great great-grandchildren.
The family wishes to thank Compassion Hospice for the love and care provided to Bessie during her last days.
