Bethel LaWanda Bond Plake
LaWanda Plake, 80, of Beaumont, Texas, passed away on February 24, 2023, in Beaumont.
A graveside service will take place at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 4, 2023, at Claybar Haven of Rest Cemetery in Beaumont. Officiating will be Reverend Jon Stouffer of First United Methodist Church in downtown Beaumont.
Born in Beaumont, Texas, on September 10, 1942, she was the daughter of Hebert Clarence Bond and Walterrean “Snooks” (Lyles) Bond Meisner. LaWanda grew up in Amelia and spent lots of her younger years in Honey Island. She graduated from South Park High School in 1960 and married Eddie Plake in 1962. After raising their 3 children, Paul, Missy and Billy, she started a career as a Realtor in Baton Rouge. She loved to play cards and games, cook, fish, spend time with friends and family, and adored her grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Millard Edgar “Eddie” Plake; and her youngest son, Billy Joe Plake.
LaWanda is survived by her sister, Anita Marie Jones, her children, Paul Thomas Plake and Melissa Plake Woods and husband, John Woods; her grandchildren, Aaron Kinsala Woods, and Sarah Alexandra Woods along with many other family and friends.
