She is survived by two children, son, Stephen Launcelot Leslie, wife Gay Lynn Leslie of Forney, Texas and daughter, Linda Dee Guzman of Brazoria, Texas, 9 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren.
Bethel was an elevator operator in downtown Beaumont, Texas in the 1950's. She was employed as a lab technician at Roger Brothers TSO in Beaumont, Texas from the 1960's to the 1980's, retiring at 67 years old.
Bethel’s favorite pastime was working in her yard and raising her chickens and roosters. She also had a few geese. Her best friends through the years were her dogs, Trudy and Dottie.
She went by many names which included Gramma Leslie, Old Nana, Ma Maw, and Texas Granny.
Bethel lived in Dallas for 19 years at White Rock Court Senior Living where she was often called the "Social Director."
Everyone loved her and she loved everyone! Her greatest pastimes were playing dominos, the card game "Farkle", Seek and Find books, watching soap operas, Gunsmoke and John Wayne movies. Her mind was sharp, and she could count dominoes like a pro! She should have played the lottery because she was a winner in BINGO all the time.
Bethel loved the Lord and was so thankful for her amazing life.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, August 5, 2023, at 2:00 pm at Magnolia Cemetery, 2291 Pine St.,
Beaumont, Texas 77703. Friends who wish may make a donation to the American Cancer Society.
The family would like to extend a very special thank you to all of Ms. Bethel’s friends, and all of their friends, for the kindness, support, and prayers expressed during this difficult time.
