Betty Jean Craft, 78, a longtime resident of Lumberton, passed away September 26, 2009 in Conroe, Texas. She was born August 7, 1931 in Clayton, TX to Alfred and Clyde Hodges Roe. She was married to Marvin L. Craft, who was the first City Judge of Lumberton. Betty was a loving mother and a gracious wife who formerly attended First Baptist Church of Lumberton.
She was preceded in death by her husband and parents. Those left to cherish her memory are daughter, Charlotte Hecke and husband Kenneth, of Conroe; grandchildren, Jeremy C. Brown and Blake E. Hecke of Conroe; one great-granddaughter; brothers Earl Dean Roe and wife Jeanette and Jerry L. Roe, of Longview and sister, Shirley Ann Ingram and husband Don of Carthage, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will take place Monday, September 28, 2009 from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at Claybar Kelley-Watkins Funeral Home. Funeral services will be on Tuesday, September 29, at 11:00 a.m. in the Charles S. Kelley Chapel at Claybar Kelley-Watkins with Pastor Kevin McClusky officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Beaumont.
