Betty Cleveland Hankins Rollins, 89, of Orange, passed away on January 5, 2021, in Orange.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, January 8, 2021, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. Officiating will be Reverend Lani Rousseau. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m., to 10:00 a.m., Friday, January 8, 2021, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.
Born in Vidor, Texas, on October 16, 1931, she was the daughter of Frank Cleveland and Donnie (Coleman) Cleveland. Betty attended the First Church of the Nazarene and later went on to attend First United Methodist Church of Orange. She enjoyed tending to her flower garden, at one point owning her own flower shop “Flowers by Betty”. Betty was a member of the Lutcher Theater Guild for a number of years. She worked as an RN for Bayer, using her skills and compassion to care of her patients. Betty was a wonderful and involved mother, making sure her children always had fun and knew how loved they were. She loved traveling and taking her children camping- her favorite of places being Eureka Springs, Arkansas. Betty was an amazing cook and had a brilliant imaginative and creative mind. She was an amazing mother, sister, “Mawmaw”, and friend. She will be dearly missed by all those who came to know and love her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Donnie Cleveland; son, David Hankins; grandson, Tim Hankins; brother, Steve Cleveland; and sister, Zelda Cleveland.
She is survived by her children, Penny Hankins Vesieh and husband David of Houston, Dennis Hankins and wife Carolyn of Orange; grandchildren, Ed Vesieh, Greg Vesieh, Katie King, Kara Noonan; great-grandchildren, Timothy Hankins, Avery Vesieh, Reese Hankins, Audrey Vesieh, and Eva Vesieh; siblings, Cecil Cleveland, Frankie LeBleu, Jackie Roberts, Dorothy Scuff.
Serving as pallbearers will be George Boudreaux, Curtis LeBlanc, Greg Vesieh, Sam Whatley, Grayling Mouton and Dennis Hankins.
