Billy Edgar Goodman, 79, of Bridge City, Texas, passed away on April 12, 2024, at home. 

 

Graveside services will be held at Houston National Cemetery in Houston, Texas.

 

Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., Friday, April 19, 2024, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.

 

Born in Skipperville, Alabama, on September 30, 1944, he was the son of William Goodman and Mattie Victoria Goodman. During his career in the United States Army, Billy proudly served his country through three tours in Vietnam as well as shaping the next generation as a Drill Sargent. His military service exemplified his commitment to duty and honor, traits that he carried with him throughout his life. His time in the military shaped him, he was serious in nature and meticulous in all things, especially taking great pride in the care of his lawn as he got older.   He had a great skill for bowling and shooting pool and additionally, he was a self-proclaimed history buff, always eager to expand his knowledge on past events. A man of integrity and unwavering dedication, Billy leaves behind a legacy of service and love. His memory will be forever cherished by those who knew him.

 

He is preceded in death by his parents, William and Mattie Goodman; sisters, Francis and Willie; brothers, C.W. and William; and brother-in-law, Jack.

 

He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Wanda Goodman; sons, Chris Goodman, Brian Goodman and Christie, and Jason Goodman and Patricia; daughters, Cynthia Williams and Celia Moreno and Greg; grandchildren, Ciara, Charles, Chrissy, Matthew, Rhys, Aaron, Rebecca, Hannah, Elijah, Benjamin, Corryn, Ethan, Keith, Daniel, and Brooklyn; great-grandchildren, Grant, Finn, Kipton, Lincoln, Myla, Tilly Lou, and one on the way; brother, Roger Goodman and Joyce; nieces and nephews, Mike Riley, Cathy Riley, Richard Riley, and David Riley; as well as numerous other loving family and friends
