Billy Ray Van Pelt, 89, of Orange, Texas, passed away on August 27, 2018, at his home in Orange.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 5, 2018, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. Officiating will be Dr. Gary McCormick of First Christian Church in Orange. Burial will follow at Magnolia Springs Cemetery in Kirbyville at 1:00 p.m.
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.
Born in Orange, Texas, on February 11, 1929, he was the son of Eugene Van Pelt and Grace Ingram. Billy worked as an operator and instrument mechanic at DuPont for over 30 years. He was a member of First Christian Church. Billy was also involved in Cherry’s Domino Club. He enjoyed listening to old country and gospel music. He was a unique man who will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Grace Van Pelt; and his siblings, David Lee Van Pelt, Wanda Ruth Courmier, and Patricia Ann Morgan.
He is survived by his daughter, Karen Van Pelt of Germany; his step-son, Mark Constine of Houston, Texas; his siblings, Norma Jean Van Pelt of Lumberton, Jerry James Van Pelt and wife Eunice of Houston, James Wynne Van Pelt and wife Sandra of Mauriceville, and Carolyn Sue Van Pelt of Mauriceville; and his caregiver, Teresa Viator of Mauriceville.
