Billy R. Garrett, Sr., 81, of Orange for 27 years and formerly of Crosby, passed away Wednesday, December 1, 2010, at Baptist Hospital in Beaumont.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 4, 2010, at Faith United Methodist Church in Orange with Reverend Kevin Kissel officiating. A 3:00 p.m. graveside service will be held at Bedias Baptist Cemetery in Bedias, Texas with Masonic Graveside Services.

Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Friday, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.

Born in Shiro, Texas on July 29, 1929, Billy was the son of John Wiley Garrett and Ermel Lois Jones Garrett. He served in the U.S. Army and was a self employed manufacturer with O'Connor Manufacturing for 27 years. He was a member of Faith United Methodist Church, the American Quarter Horse Association, and the Louisiana Race Horse Association. Billy was also a member of the South Houston Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite, and Painters Local 130 in Houston.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Shirley Garrett; and father and mother-in-law, Thomas and Mary Turner.

Billy is survived by his daughter, Joyce L. Foster and husband, John of Cypress; son, Billy Ray Garrett, Jr. and wife, Robin of Humble; daughter, Judy M. Mayweather of Pasadena; son, John W. Garrett, II of Crosby; daughter, Mary L. Hancks and husband, Gary of Crosby; daughter, Patricia A. Seay and husband, Chris of Parachute, Colorado; and daughter, Sherry A. Carpenter and husband, Johnny of Brazoria.

He is also survived by his 15 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 3 sisters, Margie Isbell, Ermel Jordan and husband, Ed, and Evelyn Kelso and husband, Lee; sister-in-law, Nan Ebert and husband, Gene; 3 brothers-in-law, Tommy Lynn Turner and wife, JoAnn, Jimmy Turner and wife, Shelia, and Joe Turner and wife, Carol.

Serving as Pallbearers will be John Garrett, Bill Garrett, Michael Garrett, Chris Garrett, Mickey Reed and Michael Reed. Honorary Pallbearer will be Josh Dennis.
