Bob (Bobby) Lawler
Bob (Bobby) Lawler, 76, of Mauriceville, died Tuesday, February 7, 2017, at Baylor St. Luke Medical Center in Houston.
Funeral services will be 6:00 p.m. Friday, February 10, 2017, at First Baptist Church of Mauriceville, with Reverend Kevin Brown officiating. Cremation will follow under the direction of Claybar Funeral Home.
Visitation will be held prior to the service from 4:00-6:00 p.m., Friday at the church.
Born in Orange, Texas, on July 19, 1940, Bob was the son of Thomas William Lawler, Sr. and Edna Lucille (McKinley) Lawler. He served as the Vice President of Harding and Lawler, Inc. prior to his retirement, and he attended First Baptist Church of Mauriceville. Bob was extremely witty and had a great sense of humor. He loved antique cars and was an excellent woodworker. Known to his family as “Bobba”, he was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who loved the time he spent sharing meals with family and friends. Bob was blessed with many friends that he considered to be like family, and they all helped to fill his life with joy. He truly had a joy for life, and that feeling will live on in all who knew him as we celebrate and honor his memory.
He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas “Tommy” Lawler, Sr.; mother, Edna Lucille Lawler; and brother, Thomas William “Bill” Lawler, Jr.
Bob is survived by his wife, Linda Kliesch Lawler of Mauriceville; daughter, Sherri Lawler of Mauriceville; daughter and son-in-law, Kelli and Terry Small of Friendswood; granddaughter, Ashlea Claybar and fiancé Jeffrey David of Baton Rouge, LA; grandson, Stephen Small of Friendswood; cousins, JoAnn Bourgeois and Ella Goodwyn of Longview; brother-in-law, Ron Kliesch and wife Kathryn of Ingram; numerous nieces and nephews; and many wonderful and devoted neighbors and friends.
Serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be Walker Linscomb, Joe Shannon, Tommy Burton, James VanPelt, Benny Rhoads, John McGee, and Al Granger.
The family wants to express their appreciation to Dr. Maria Blahey and her staff, and Dr. Jorge Garcia-Gregory and his staff for the excellent medical care provided to Bob. The family also wants to express their gratitude to all of his special nurses and friends at cardiac rehab for making his last years so enjoyable.
As a tribute to Bob’s relaxed life style, those attending the visitation and funeral service are encouraged to dress casually.
