Born in Vanndale, Arkansas, on May 16, 1932, Bobbie was the daughter of John Ed and Laura McRight. She was a wonderful wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and great grandmother and was special to all who knew her. She had a laugh that once you heard it, you would never forget it!! Over the years, she would sing to her kids, grandkids and great grandkids the song, “You are My Sunshine” when they were little. That song will always be connected to such sweet memories of their Mom and MeeMee. Now, knowing that she is in heaven with Jesus, we all will think of those times and realize that “she” was OUR sunshine!
In the last two years of her life, what gave Bobbie the most joy was living close to her great-granddaughter, Melody, who, as a toddler, could make her smile when no one else could. And Melody loved coming to see her MeeMee!
Bobbie had a heart for Jesus, and she was an active part of First Baptist Church in Bridge City since 1948. She was a Sunday School teacher for children 9 to 12 years old for about 40 years. She was on the Ministry Committee for 20 years, the Kitchen Committee for 10 years, and also was a teacher in the church Pre-K program for 13 years.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Calvin Harvey of 59 years, her daughter, Sheryl Parr; parents, John Ed and Laura McRight, and sister, Barbara Osborne.
Bobbie is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Laura and Richard Schur of Lumberton, Texas; and son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Vickie Harvey of Austin, Texas. She is also survived by six grandchildren; Jessica Schur, Melissa Foote and husband Cody, Megan Stanley and husband John, Shae Mann and husband Jonathan, Shana Martin and husband Jeremy, and Ty Harvey. Also, ten great-grandchildren; Hunter Stonebreaker and wife Katie, Leah Foote, Cole Stanley, Grayson Stanley, Landon Moody, Carson Parr, Piper Parr, Ledger Martin, Melody Foote, Charlotte Mann; one sister, Peggy Minner of Bridge City; two brothers, Tommy McRight and wife Margaret of Calhan, Colorado, and Gary McRight and wife Vickie of Bronson, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
We would like to thank Harbor Hospice for taking such good care of Bobbie and her family during this difficult time.
