Bobbie Gene Shelton, Jr.

1960 ∼ 2025

Bobbie Gene Shelton, Jr.

Bobbie Gene Shelton, Jr., 64, of Bridge City, Texas, passed away on January 28, 2025, at his home. He was born in Orange, Texas, on August 18, 1960, the son of Bobbie Gene Shelton, Sr., and JoAnn (Freeman) Denmon.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, February 1, 2025, at Claybar Funeral Home in Bridge City, Texas.

Visitation will be held prior to the service, beginning at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, February 1, 2025, at Claybar Funeral Home in Bridge City, Texas.

He attended West Orange-Stark School, where he ultimately graduated. He spent his youth fishing, riding dirt bikes, playing baseball, and harassing his three brothers Shon, Troy, and Chad. He later attended Kilgore College and Lamar State College, where he earned an associate degree. He also spent time coaching Little League baseball.

Following his career as a district manager at Entex, he moved to operations at Firestone Polymers, where he later retired. He was the union president of USW (United Steelworkers), spending many years advocating for his friends and coworkers. Bobbie was also a proud Freemason, embodying the values of brotherhood, integrity, and service. His dedication to helping others extended beyond his career, as he was always willing to lend a hand, offer guidance, or support those in need.

Bobbie was a hardworking man who dedicated himself to his family, often running on little to no sleep to make sure his kids had everything they needed. He especially took pride in supporting his son Tyler’s passion for dirt bike racing, driving all over the state to attend races. Never one to sit on the sidelines, he even joined in on the action himself. Some of the best memories from those days came from the friendly battles between him, his brother Troy, and his cousin Kurt, as they competed to see who wouldn’t finish last!

Bobbie’s love for his family knew no bounds, and he was always willing to go the extra mile for them. More recently, he treasured the opportunity to take a cross-country trip with his daughter and grandkids, creating new memories that they will cherish forever.

Bobbie loved to introduce himself as "Bobbie with an IE." He was the life of the party and lived life to the fullest. He loved his family and cherished spending time with them. He especially enjoyed his little slice of heaven at the beach, where he spent weekends riding golf carts on the beach with his girlfriend, Beth Strickland laughing, barbecuing, and embracing life like kids without a care in the world. Whether it was cruising along the sand, swapping stories, or soaking in the simple joys of a sunset by the water, Bobbie made sure every moment was one to remember.

Bobbie liked to spend his downtime at his favorite local watering holes, socializing with friends. He was a jack of all trades and a master of none. Many turned to him for help or advice, whether it was fixing something, solving a problem, or simply offering words of wisdom mixed with humor. He had a way of making even the toughest challenges seem manageable, always ready to lend a hand or a listening ear. Bobbie will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Bobbie is preceded in death by his parents, Bobbie Shelton Sr. and JoAnn Denmon.

He is survived by his loving partner and best friend, Beth Strickland; his daughters, Whitney Shelton and Presley Mouton; his son, Tyler Shelton and his wife, Dana.

Grandchildren: Laylah Shelton, Mikey Monek, Bobby Monek, Keaton Langston and his wife Brittney; Kaitlyn Langston and her husband, Max.
