Brenda LaVaughn Hogden

1948 ∼ 2024

Brenda LaVaughn Hogden

Brenda LaVaughn Hogden (Ginny)

Brenda LaVaughn Hogden (Ginny), 75 of Orange, Texas.

Brenda was born on November 11, 1948, in Nacogdoches, Texas. She was the daughter of Buford and Imogene Parker. She passed away on July 22, 2024, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont, Texas.

A visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, July 26th at 10 a.m. at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange, Texas, followed by the memorial service at 11 a.m. Graveside service to follow at Harris Cemetery in West Orange, Texas.

Brenda was a resident of Nacogdoches, Texas, until she met and married the love of her life, Richard Hogden of Orange, Texas. She and Richard shared many great memories together, whether it be boat rides and fishing trips, going on road trips, or just being with family. She loved celebrating Christmas and holidays, as those were by far her favorite times because that meant she would be with her family, and she always ensured she had something special planned for everyone. She was the best at making holidays extra fun by creating scavenger hunts or riddles to find gifts. She was always faithful in sending a card for every occasion. In her pastime, she enjoyed working on crossword puzzles any riddles. She took countless pictures and ensured all were organized in a photo album or scrapbook and labeled for all to enjoy.

Brenda worked as a florist Market Basket and even did all the flowers for both her children’s weddings. But her primary focus in her life has always been her love and support of her family.

Brenda loved God and her church family as well and truly had a servant’s heart. She was always happy to be the person who took care of family members in their time of need. She was an active member at Winfree Baptist Church in Orange. She and Richard were longtime residents of West Orange, where she served on the Wesco Little League Board and the PTA at West Orange Schools for many years.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 55 years, Richard Hogden; daughter, Stephanie Westlund and husband, Bubba of Bridge City; son, Cody Hogden, and wife, Ginger of Orange; grandchildren, Brooklyn Sampere and husband Bryce, Jessica Westlund and fiancé Taylor Weldon, Aaron Westlund and Cory Westlund, all of Bridge City, Texas. Brother, Traciel Parker and wife Linda of Lufkin, TX.

She also has many nieces and nephews as well as extended family and close friends who will miss her dearly.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Buford and Imogene Parker; and sister Paula Jean Shipp.

To summarize her life in a few short words, Brenda loved greatly and was greatly loved. She was a true example to her family of what it looks like to “Love One Another.” The only thing she didn’t teach us was what life was supposed to be like without her being in charge and keeping us all on schedule.

Thank you to everyone who has reached out to our family, from family, friends, church family, and neighbors. We would like to give special thanks to the first responders who assisted our family during this time. We are truly grateful for your service.

We as a family, along with Brenda, fully believe that she is with Jesus, healed and whole. We are so thankful God has allowed us to love her and to have been loved by her.

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking to please consider making a donation to The Salvation Army of Orange.

My deepest sympathy and condolences to the family. I spent many years enjoying the company of ms Brenda and Richard on Joyce street. I cherish those memories and Joyce street was never the same after they moved. The kids and grandkid’s still have fond memories of ms Brenda on her front porch. May good bless you all.
