Callie Marie Forrest
Callie Marie Forrest, 81 years young, of Orange, Texas, passed away on May 21, 2009. Marie was born on October 18, 1927, in Henderson County, Texas, to the late Lee Hughes Foreman and Mona Elizabeth Holland Foreman. Later, her mother married Joseph Leonard Hargrave, who was an outstanding step-father.
Marie spent her childhood in Henderson County and Port Acres, Texas. After marriage to Mavis Adron Forrest she moved to Jacksonville, Texas, and gave birth to two children, Dennis Adrian Forrest and Judy Carol Forrest Still. In 1954, the family moved from Jacksonville to Bridge City and Orange, Texas, where she was a resident until her passing. Her life's devotion was to her children, family, and her church, First Baptist Church of Orange. She worked over thirty years as a four year old Sunday School teacher and many years in the nursery and Mother's Day Out program at the First Baptist Church. An excellent
homemaker, she also enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and many other arts and crafts.
She is preceded in death by her parents and brother, Lee Hughes Foreman, Jr., a wonderful grandson, Gregory Cline Still and her husband, "Max" Forrest.
She is survived by her two children, Denny Forrest of Orange Park, Florida, and Judy Forrest Still of Orange; four grandchildren, Kirk Forrest Still, Denyne Forrest Penna, Stacy Still Crump and Kimberly Forrest; seven great-grandchildren, Haleigh Still, Danielle and Shayla Marrie Penna, Mackenzie and Saxton Crump and Preston and Payton Hauerland; her sister, Pearlie Mae Foreman Morrison; her brother, Joe Hargrave; and nieces, Joyce Marie Hoffpauir and Becky Romero; nephews, Donnie Morrison, Joey and Cliff Hargrave and many friends.
The family wishes to thank the doctors and staff at The Meadows, in Orange, and Odyssey Hospice for the love and care provided to Callie Marie during her last years. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Alzheimer's Association.
Arrangements are by Claybar Funeral Home in Orange, with a visitation at 12:00 noon, Sunday, May 24, 2009, and services to begin at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Bridge City.
