Carl E. Fellows, Jr., 91, was born in Andalusia, AL on November 4, 1922 to Carl Eks Fellows Sr. and wife, Minnalaura. He passed away March 3, 2014 at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital, Beaumont, TX from complications of pneumonia.
Carl graduated from Marianna High School in Florida and upon graduation, received a football scholarship to the University of Florida. He was employed with Conoco as an Exploration Supervisor, working all over the United States and the world prior to retiring. Mr. Fellows enjoyed fishing; however he was an avid golfer, especially enjoying golf overseas in Dubai. Closer to home, Carl favored golfing at Bayou Den Golf Club in Beaumont. Carl was also a member of First Baptist Church, Beaumont.
Mr. Fellows is survived by his wife, Velma Hatley Fellows; daughter, Vicki Lawrence of Wiley, TX; stepdaughter, Laurine Dowell, stepson, Mark Dowell; sister, Lauranne Kendall of Marianna, FL; 5 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his first wife, Susie Barnes Fellows; his son, Carl Eks Fellows III, his parents; his brother, Charles Fellows and his sister, Rosalyn Ingram.
Cremation will be handled through Claybar Kelley-Watkins Funeral Home.
