Carolyn Ann Sonnier

Carolyn Ann Sonnier, 67, of Orange, Texas passed away on June 17th, 2024.

 

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, June 20, 2024, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. Officiating will be Deacon David Bonneaux. Burial will follow at St. Mary Cemetery.

 

Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, June 20, 2024, at Claybar Funeral Home with a Rosary to follow at 1:00 p.m.

 

Born in DeQuincy, Louisiana, on October 3, 1956, she was the daughter of Hilery Fontenot and Lydia Fontenot (Ashworth). Carolyn's biggest passion in life was her family. She loved having her children and grandchildren over for Sunday dinner. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and supporting them in their activities. She also loved spending time with her mother, taking her shopping and to play bingo. She spent a few years teaching CCD at St Mary's Catholic Church, worked at Apple Tree Daycare for 15 years, and was an avid Astros fan. Carolyn was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, and sister.

 

She is survived by her husband, Rufus Sonnier of 50 years, son Brent Sonnier and wife Shawn, her daughter Melissa Waguespack and husband Brent. her grandchildren Cole Waguespack, Cade Waguespack, Maci Waguespack, and Slade Sonnier, sisters, Linda Trahan and husband Earl, and Brenda Gipson, as well as her mother, Lydia Fontenot.

 

She is preceded in death by her father, Hilery Fontenot, father-in-law, Milton Sonnier, and mother-in-law, Elizabeth Sonnier, and brother-in-law, C.J. Gipson.

 

Serving as pallbearers will be Cole Waguespack, Cade Waguespack, Slade Sonnier, Michael Duhon, Bobby Williams, Michael Currie, and Eric Currie. 

 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to your choice of church or charity of choice in Carolyn’s memory.
