Bobbye Carroll Soape Scarber

On August 19, 2024 Bobbye Carroll Soape Scarber passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by loving family. She is survived by her husband and soul mate of 67 years, Prentice J. Scarber; her three daughters Pamela Alford, Tena Scarber, Leigh Peveto; son in laws Gary Alford and Paul Peveto. God blessed her and Prentice with 5 grandchildren Ashleigh Thomas and husband Trey, Haley Peveto, Kirby Alford and wife Jessie, Madison Hillin and husband Luke, and Cole Peveto. The most recent joy in their lives has been through the 8 great grandchildren Kaleigh, Brynn, Forrest, Isaac, Charlotte, Elliot, Walker, and Sonny. Bobbye has sisters Peggy Taylor and husband Kenneth, Janice Burns and husband Ronnie, brother Willie Joe Soape and wife Juanita; and sister-in-law Eunice Barrett and numerous nieces and nephews. Bobbye loved the Lord and knew Jesus as her personal and loving Savior. She was truly a Proverbs 31 woman of God, verse 30 “Charm is deceptive, beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised. 31 Honor her for all that her hands have done, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.” Many in the McLewis and Orangefield communities know “Mrs. Scarber” for her service of 21 years in the Orangefield ISD as school secretary. She cared for the children and parents lovingly as though they were her own. Bobbye was a member of Silver Oaks Baptist Church. God gifted Bobbye with a love for His people. She was a selfless servant of her Lord always thinking of others needs before herself. Her gifts of hospitality, encouragement, and mercy were poured out on all she encountered. To know Bobbye is to know the love of Jesus. Her legacy will live on through the lives she has touched.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m., September 14, 2024, at Silveroaks Baptist Church in Orange.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Mike Eden Ministries Honor of Bobbye Scarber at https://campaigns.tithely.com/28726-mike-eden-ministries-inc/in-honor-of-bobbye-carroll-soape-scarber.

Cremation will be held under the direction of Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.

BOBBYE Carol & Prentice, what an awesome loving couple! A shining example as Christ Followers. They lived it. She loved me and I loved her. We shared together, we laughed together, we shed tears together, and we prayed together, continually lifting each other up in good seasons and seasons of trial. Our hearts are saddened for Leigh and Pam in the loss of their precious mother. We only knew her through her daughter Leigh but knowing her through the personalities of Leigh and Pam is to show what a Godly mother she was. Our prayers are with the family during this sad time. May God carry you through the future days of grief. ----Sylvia and Mike Eden

Where do I start ? What a Wonderful Lady and friend to me ( both she and Prentice ( Mr. Scarber). "Mrs. Scarber" was truly special in the McLewis Community. As it reads "She cared for the children and parents as they were her own" no statement could be more true. I was one of those "children". Back in 1976 while in school at McLewis Elementary I was having to put eye-drops in my eyes almost daily for severe allergies ... I would walk down to "Mrs. Scarber's" office and she would wipe my eyes with a warm towel from the Nurse's Office and put the drops in my eyes. She always told me "you have the most beautiful brown eyes my handsome little brown-eyed boy". I am grateful that we (both she and Prentice) reconnected as friends. They are both two very strong Christian people that I knew I could count on when I need someone to be in prayer with me over a life situation. I am grateful God gave me the opportunity to express my thanks to how much your friendship and love meant to me since I was a 6 year old little boy. I am one of "many" lives that you touched through your kindness and love. Rest with Angels Mrs. Scarber because you were an Angel here on Earth.

I will never forget when I was about 10, I accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior at Old First Orange Baptist Church. I was up front and she came down and was the first to one to hug me.

Yes, her legacy will definitely live on through the lives she has touched. I felt so warmly welcomed in their home as a child, it didn’t matter how often I was there. (it was a lot!!😂) I’m so very thankful for those days. Mr. Scarber, Pam, Tena & Leigh, I can’t tell you how sorry I am. Love & Prayers for all of you. Thank you all for being such a huge part of my childhood.
