Catarina Rodriguez Guerra, 98, of Orange, Texas, passed away on September 30, 2024, at Harbor Hospice in Beaumont.
A Mass of Christian Burial service will be held at 12:00 p.m., Saturday, October 5, 2024, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Orange. Officiating will be Father Antony Paulose. Burial will follow at St. Mary Cemetery in Orange.
Visitation will be from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m., Friday, October 4, 2024, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange, with a Rosary at 6:00 p.m., with Deacon Melvin Payne officiating.
Born in Ocampo Coahuila, Mexico, on April 30, 1926, she was the daughter of Rodrigo Rodriguez Vasquez and Felipa Pena (Flores). Catarina was a beacon of love and generosity, always lighting up the room. She was the heart of her family, pouring all her love and nurturing instincts into caring for her loved ones. She spent countless hours tending to her plants, creating a peaceful sanctuary that reflected her nurturing soul. The sound of water running brought her immense joy, and she often found comfort in the simplicity of life around her. Her role as a grandmother was perhaps her proudest accomplishment, as her grandchildren were her everything. The bond they shared was deep and treasured, filled with laughter, stories, and unforgettable memories. She always wanted to feed her grandchildren her delicious food. Catarina was a loyal member of St. Mary Catholic Church, where she found community and belonging. Her faith guided her life and instilled in her a sense of purpose that she carried with graciousness. She was a pillar of strength and compassion, embodying the virtues of kindness and understanding. Always extending a helping hand and a warm smile, Catarina left a lasting impression on everyone she met.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Rodrigo and Felipa Rodriguez; husband, Abdon C. Guerra; three brothers; three sisters; and three sons-in-law.
She is survived by her daughters, Adelina Guerra and Alejandro Arredondo, Juana Guerra Rodriguez, Antonia Guerra and Roberto Gama, Guadalupe Guerra and Jose Jorge Trevino, Catarina Guerra and Raul F. Orta, Maria Guerra and Rojelio Gomez, and Teresa Guerra Koob (Ayers); son, Fernando and Judith Guerra; 30 grandchildren; 67 great-grandchildren; 16; great great grandchildren; as well as other loving family and friends.
Serving as pallbearers will be Jeff Koob, Jason Ayers, Nicholas Ayers, Noe Gomez, Moses Gomez, and Arthur Lecea. Honorary pallbearers are Albert Solorzano and Fernando Guerra, Jr.
