Chance Gordon Pace

August 19, 1988 — September 1, 2023

Chance Gordon Pace
The life of the party and a friend to all, Chance Gordon Pace, 35, of Bridge City, passed away Friday, September 1, 2023 at his home.

Chance was the first face customers saw at Flipper’s Skin Flix Tattoo Shop for the last 13 years. His bearded, scowling face gave off a much grumpier disposition than was his true personality. Chance was a faithful, generous friend who always had a funny story to share.
Outside of Flipper’s, Chance’s face could be seen worldwide on the hundreds of #ChanceFace stickers that friends stuck on any and all things as they traveled. His famous face is spread across the United States and can be found as far away as Berlin, Germany, Krakow, Poland, and even on Stonehenge.
Chance was a local legend, frequenting the live music scene to support his friends in bands, and making his presence known everywhere he went.
Everyone has a Chance story – a memory of Chance being absolutely ridiculous and turning a regular event into something hilarious. He was outspoken about the things he was passionate about. He was fun, he was loud, he was willing to look like a fool in the name of a good time.
Chance was an Astros fan, a Britney Spears fan, a punk rock and hard rock music fan, a superhero fan, a Seinfeld fan, and a big Simpsons fan.
On top of all that he was to his friends, Chance was also deeply committed to caring for his grandmother, Betty Pace. Up to his last moments, he was always considering what was best for her.
Hundreds of friends are left behind to cherish Chance’s memory, including Allan Broussard, Randall “Flipper” Doolittle, Justin Bossier, Lane Wagner and many, many more.
ChuggitChance, Senor Poo, or whatever you called him, Chance impacted your life. He brought authenticity everywhere he went. He was unapologetically himself. He was one-of-a-kind.
Chance is survived by his father, Dennis Pace and step-mother Kathy; grandmother Betty Pace; sister, Hannah Harris and husband, Jason, and nephew Benjamin Harris; uncles Kirk Pace and Chuck Pace; brother Steven Moss; great-aunt Joanne Shugart; and lots of cousins.
Chance was adored by his family and friends and he will be incredibly missed. Every opportunity we have, we will tell the world about our Chance and the legacy he leaves behind.

A memorial service to celebrate the life of Chance will be held at 12:00 p.m., Sunday, September 10, 2023, at Texas Ave. Tavern at 2845 Texas Ave., Bridge City, TX 77611 with a gathering to follow. Officiating his service will be Randall “Flipper” Doolittle.

Cremation will be under the direction of Claybar Funeral Home.
