Charles Leslie Broussard, Sr., 81, of Orangefield, Texas, passed away on February 2, 2017, at The Meadows in Orange with his son Bill by his side.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 7, 2017, at First Baptist Church in Orangefield, Texas. Officiating will be Reverend Cody Hogden. Burial will follow at Mary Williams Cemetery in Orange.
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., Monday, at First Baptist Church in Orangefield.
Born in Orange, Texas, on August 28, 1935, Charles was the son of Bill and Amaline Granger Broussard. Known as Brother B, he was a pastor since 1964 serving at First Baptist Church in West Orange, Trinity Church in Vidor, and LaBelle Baptist Church in LaBelle. Charles enjoyed fishing, woodworking, and loved the Dallas Cowboys. He loved his family and his pride and joy was taking care of his beloved wife of 58 years, Mrs. Von Ella “Bonnie” Broussard. Charles will be greatly missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife, Von Ella “Bonnie” Broussard; son, Keith Broussard; step-son, DeWayne Ware; and his daughter-in-law, Marcia Ware.
Charles is survived by his children Charles Leslie Broussard, Jr. and wife Merri, of Orangefield and Bill Hays Broussard and wife Pam, of Mauriceville; step-children, John Ware, of Mauriceville and Elaine Foster and husband David, of Boulder City, Nevada; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and 6 great-great-grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers will be Brad Broussard, Caine Blackburn, Robert Schlicher, Branden Blackburn, Tim Allen, and John Ware.
Mr. Broussard’s family would like to extend a special thank you to the nurses, aids, and other staff at The Meadows Nursing Home for taking such good care of him.
