Charles Busby

Charles Busby, 46, of Orange, died Monday, January 31, 2011, at Baptist Hospital in Orange.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 4, 2011, in the chapel of Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. Military honors will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens near Bridge City.

Visitation will be 5:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, at the funeral home in Orange.

Charles was born in Orange on July 9, 1964, the son of Cecil Busby, Sr. and Betty Busby. He retired from the United States Army following 22 years of service.

During his career with the Army, he was stationed at military posts throughout the world including Germany and Korea and was honored to serve his country during Operation Desert Storm and Operation Iraqi Freedom.

He received the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Army commendation Medal 6th Award, Army Achievement Medal 6th Award, Join Meritorious Unit Award, Valorous Unit Award Army Good Conduct Medal 6th Award and the National Defense Service Medal with Bronze Star.

He also received the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Korean Defense Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon 2nd Award, KU-LTB-MDL Saudi Arabia, Combat Action Badge, Driver and Mechanic Badge and Basic Marksmanship Qualification Badge.

Charles was preceded in death by his mother, Betty Busby; niece, Laura Lee Busby; and nephews, Josh and Chris Busby.

He is survived by his wife, Nicole Busby of Orange; father, Cecil Busby, Sr. of Orange; children, Jeff Busby and his wife, Randi, of Deweyville, Charleen Busby and her boyfriend, Marcos Espinoza, Cory Busby and Casey Busby, all of Orange; grandchildren, Amos Spell and Jace Atchley. He was looking forward to the birth of his third grandchild, Payton Busby, who is due to arrive any day.

Charles is also survived by his brothers, James Busby of Orange, David Busby and his wife, Debbie, of Massachusetts, Cecil Busby, Jr. and his wife, Christina, of Deweyville; sisters, Sheila Abshire and her husband, Bobby, of Orange, Mary Annette Busby of Houston, Alida Loshe and her husband, Bobby of Orange and Cecilia Busby of Denver, Colorado.
