Charles H. Hunter, 85, was born in Magnolia Springs, TX to Nannie Pearl Hunter and Charlie Louis Hunter on February 21, 1928. Charles passed from this life on February 3, 2014 in his home in Lumberton after an 8 year battle with Parkinson’s disease. He retired fromMobilOil in 1985 after 34 years as a Senior Clerk.
Charles was a classic and antique car enthusiast and enjoyed many retirement years with his “toys”. He was a charter member of the Southeast Texas Mustang Club. Other organizations he belonged to until his illness prevented him from participating were with International Thunderbird Club, The Antique Automobile Club of America and the Horseless Carriage Club.
Charles and his wife are members of First Baptist Church in Lumberton. He is predeceased by his parents and his sister, Lenora H. Cruse.
Charles is survived by his wife of 42 years, Jeannie Aiken Hunter; daughters, Cathey Nan Hunter of Beaumont and Theresa Primeau and husband, Rick of Pasadena; son, Stephen Hunter of California; step-daughter, Gayle Foley of Vidor; step-granddaughter, Amanda Richards and husband, Ray of Vidor, two step-grandsons, Ryan O’Quinn and his fiancé, Kaitlin Warren and Cory Young, both of Lumberton; two step-great granddaughters, Natalie and Madilynne Richards of Vidor; sisters, LaVerne Stephenson and husband Jim and Elizabeth Carruth and husband, Bill.
A gathering of friends and family will take place from 5:30 – 7:30 PM, Wednesday, February 5, 2014 at Claybar Kelley-Watkins Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held 11:00 AM, Thursday, February 6 at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Beaumont.
