Funeral services for Charles Mullins, Jr., 83, will be held on Friday, December 14, 2007, at 11:00 a.m. in the Lakewood Baptist Church in Zavalla, TX with interment to follow in the Algoma Cemetery in Marshall, TX. The family will receive guests Friday morning at 10:00 a.m., one hour prior to the service. Serving as pallbearers will be Charles Kelley, Wayne Sears, Terry Hines, and Brad Dionne. Honorary pallbearers will be his neighbors and friends in Zavalla.
Mr. Mullins was born June 24, 1924, in Marshall, TX to Charlie Sr. and Mamy Mullins and passed away on December 10, 2007, in Beaumont, TX. He was also a former resident of Lumberton and Zavalla.
Many will remember Mr. Mullins from his 30 years as a barber in South Park in Beaumont. He was also an avid hunter and fisherman. Charlie was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served 26 months in the South Pacific during World War II.
His wife of 61 years, Luella S. Mullins, preceded him in death as did his parents, sons, Billy Hugh, Gregg, and David Mullins; sister, Lorena Mullins and brother Muriel Brook Mullins.
