Charles Wesley Phillips

Charles “Charlie” Wesley Phillips, 89, was called to his Heavenly Father on June 5, 2024, in Beaumont, Texas.

Born with a servant’s heart and the desire to help others, Charlie was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Charlie is survived by his wife of 61 years, Patsy Phillips, daughter Jody Broussard, son Wade Phillips and wife Theresa, second son Curt Leger and wife Jodie, grandchildren Jared Broussard and wife Becca, Taylor Phillips, Caeden Broussard and wife Torre, Madison Benedict and husband Logon, Lauren Bearden and husband Michael, and great-grandchildren Jessica, Eleanor and Brantley Broussard, Lane Benedict, Clifton Broussard and Brooks Bearden, sister Betty Bell and brother Tommy Phillips. Charlie is reunited with his parents Arthur and Lucille Phillips, brothers Arthur Lee and Marion Phillips, and sisters Juanita Phillips, Mozelle Phillips and Mary Ann Hodckinson.

Charlie was born in Orange, Texas, on August 28, 1934. After graduating from Orange Stark High School, Charlie served our country in the United States Army. Charlie retired from Spencer-Chevron Gulf after 35 years of employment.

Charlie met the love of his life, Patsy, in September of 1962. Charlie knew he met the woman of his dreams and couldn’t let her get away, so they were married on December 13, 1962.

Charlie was a devoted husband and father and loved nothing more than spending time with his family. His children, Jody, Wade and Curt, brought him such great joy in life. Charlie spent many hours coaching his son in baseball and traveling the state to watch him play. Charlie was a golf enthusiast and could often be found at the local golf course. Legend has it that he actually made 2 hole in ones. Charlie was an avid gardener and arguably had the most beautiful yard in town.

In addition to being devoted to his family, Charlie was fiercely devoted to his faith. Charlie was very proud of serving as a Deacon for the First Baptist Church of Orange. Charlie not only believed, but he lived his life as a servant to the Lord and let his faith lead in every facet of his life. Charlie never hesitated to help those in need, whether it was mowing lawns, pressure washing houses or serving in various ministries of the church. Charlie made countless visits to nursing homes and hospitals to share his faith and reassure others of the glory of God. Charlie lived his life as a testament to the goodness of the Lord and is now resting peacefully in His arms.
